There is nothing more painful then sparring against someone and clashing shins when you and you sparring partner are going 100% and I know since I have done it numerous times!  However, one way to minimize the pain and risk of injury is putting on a pair of shin guards.

With the recently exploded Mixed Martial Arts demonstrated a devastating power which emphasizes the usage of proper shin pads and proper head gear. Protecting your brain and your shin is necessary when engaging in sparring and MMA training to stay away your body from any long term accidents.  For a couple of centuries killing the nerves inside shins as a way of protection from any blows is famous in Thailand especially towards the Muai Thai practitioners.

To attain this technique of protection, a repeated kick on hard surfaces are delivered with low impact. Another way is to firmly press down and roll a piece of wood into the shins. These practices would result a deaden nerves to the shins. Although the pain that has been resulted due to these practices fades overtime, still, it is a very painful means of guarding your shins for combat. This technique has also been famous for long term negative effects that would disable your legs within your later years.

However, today there are numerous  shin guards which assist and protect the shins from the injuries. In the modern martial arts training, shin instep guards are essential to use before practicing the strikes which aims the key points. For the new practitioners, using proper MMA gear is vital. This way, you can practice at full force while at the same time protecting your shins.
