Although I wouldn’t typically recommend an MMA fighter book for kids this book is drastically different then your typical book. Heart for the Fight written by Brian Stann along with fellow author John R. Bruning has a theme of MMA but it is essentially having a “never give up” attitude in life and especially when times get hard. So, if a kid is wanting to read a book on mixed martial arts then this book would be a great one for them to read.

It took a while longer than expected but the UFC’s inaugural Flyweight tournament now has its finalists. Joseph Benavidez was, despite his size, a standout in the Bantamweight division.

Ben Henderson, Donald Cerrone, Dan Henderson and Nick Diaz all had amazing years. None tasted defeat, and all picked up victories over high caliber opponents. That said, there’s only one man truly worthy of the title “Fighter of the Year”: the unbelievably gifted Jon “Bones” Jones.

Many men surfaced this year as prominent figures in the mixed martial arts scene. Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney’s status in the sport continues to grow as he’s slowly transforming his Bellator promotion into an organization to acknowledge, Jon Jones proved to be the year’s most amazing story, and Joe Rogan’s return to Fear Factor all but ensures more mainstream interest in the sport, having said that, it’s crucial to note that no one has made quite the impact on the sport that Dana White has in 2011.

The Best Heavyweights Outside of the UFC
UFC parent company, Zuffa has done a wonderful job of acquiring not only talented fighters, but struggling promotions as well. As a result, the majority of bona fide talents now hold places amongst UFC and Strikeforce ranks. Just the same, there are a few extremely promising heavyweights competing outside of the prestigious UFC organization, and it’s time to recognize these men and acknowledge the fact they not only deserve a shot on the big stage, but could very well find themselves under contract with the UFC sooner rather than later.

MMA expert writer Matt Pitt has written a great piece on HGH Testing and what it mean for the world of Mixed Martial Arts. Since this topic has become a hot button in the NFL it is likely to tickle down the world of MMA and and UFC on how they approach drug testing their athletes. What a lot of people don’t understand is that currently there is not a reliable test for HGH in professional athletes as of today. So, there are likely numerous athletes that are currently taking HGH and flying under the radar.

It looks like another aging mixed martial arts star is about to jump ship and try his hand at boxing. According to Rampage Jackson, he’s getting a bit bored with MMA and plans on lacing up the boxing gloves once his contract with the UFC expires. Jackson made the statement a few days after losing to Jon Jones on Sept. 24 at the UFC 135 event.

Becoming prepared to face a physical altercation of any kind is physically and mentally exhausting. A martial artist can train the muscles of the body and his or her stamina with proper MMA training, exercise, and healthy nutrition, but there’s a lot more that goes into the preparation of a fighter just before the fight. Fighters necessitate the appropriate mental composure just before the fight. Training the mental state of the fighter takes just as a lot time and consideration as the body training. Like the physical aspect of correct training, mental composure takes practice. Reasonable guidance for all stressful situation, remain focused and in control.

Learning Self Defense
The enormous advantage for understanding a lot of different varieties of fighting styles is you are able to be ready for any situation that may possibly come your way in the ring. Understanding what your opponent is trained in, is something most MMA fighters will study before the fight in training. This gives them an edge when fighting these skilled advisaries. Whenever feasible study your opponent just before commencing any form of MMA training. If your training just to train then be sure you cover all the bases ( punching, kicking, grappling, takedowns, etc.).
As stated prior, this will put your mind inside the right location and give you that winners edge. Now for the actual world applications. The way to compete on the street. This is a fully diverse way of fighting, you’ll find no rules, no refs, and no particular sort of MMA training that can provide you with an edge. In case you wish to turn out to be an excellent fighter in this arena then you need to put your mind into self-protection mode. In most cases on the street if you have some fighting back round you will be able to hold your ground.
