Let me start off by asking a couple of questions:
- Do you ever have trouble getting motivated to go train?
- Have you ever felt like you hit a plateau and aren’t able to get to that next level in your martial art skills?

Martial Arts, when practiced correctly, should involve the “Artistic” form of Martial Arts, rather than the “Martial” code.

Just as fuel is indispensable to cars for motion and speed so is food to your body. Do not expect your body to perform at its peak especially for MMA if you are not eating healthy foods. It goes beyond just satisfying your hunger; unhealthy foods can accomplish that, but expect your body system to breakdown quickly if all you choose is junk food.

This book written by Yong Kil titled “Competitive Taekwondo” is useful for a very specific student in Taekwondo. As many of you know I read tons of books per week that include the topics of martial arts, technology, biographies, and more. So, about a week ago I decided to sign up for an audio book program. After researching audible.com, audiobook.com pretty much to two top players in the audio book market, I went to Audiobooks.com and signed up for their 7 day free trial. Throughout the 7 days I listened to several books and enjoyed it.

Learning MMA can be an overwhelming endeavor even for the most advanced fighters. This is because there are so many facets to this sport that you can feel like you aren’t training enough on your ground game, striking, submission, or you name it. There is also a new way to train coming out making you feel like you have to utilize the latest cutting edge training advise.

This book written by Rory Miller titled, “Self Defense: Facing Violence: Preparing for the Unexpected” is a good introduction to self defense with a few pitfalls. One important aspect you should know right off the bat is that this book doesn’t go into a lot of detail about techniques and movement. However, it dives into the psychological turmoil and dynamics caused by violent encounters.

Although I wouldn’t typically recommend an MMA fighter book for kids this book is drastically different then your typical book. Heart for the Fight written by Brian Stann along with fellow author John R. Bruning has a theme of MMA but it is essentially having a “never give up” attitude in life and especially when times get hard. So, if a kid is wanting to read a book on mixed martial arts then this book would be a great one for them to read.

If you anything like me you love learning about anything related to martial arts. It doesn’t matter if it is specific to Taekwondo, Judo, Karate, or any other style of the arts. I consume anything I can get my hands on about anything related to the arts whether it is a: DVD, Audio CD, blog, book, instructor, another students, etc.
