What The Beginning Taekwondo Student Needs To Know

Taekwondo is one of the highest regarded sport martial arts in the world. It requires students to have a high degree of concentration, dedication and agility. Often the most common drawback to everyday life is injury or soreness from practicing the sport. The best way to overcome this, is by the use of protective padding. It is a good idea for students to use chest protectors, foot pads and mouthguards when sparring. A jock and protective cup is recommended for males and a good sports bra might be useful for females.

The belt is the most highly respected piece of equipment relating to the Taekwondo uniform. The belt represents the skill level of Taekwondo which denotes the experience. For example, beginners of Taekwondo start off with a white belt, which largely signifies purity and innocence. When you acquire the white belt, you will learn how to tie the belt and a high level of respect should be shown when dressing in your uniform.

There martial arts colored belt system is a great system of allowing all the students to know instantly how skilled a student is. Since a students skills will increase with their progression up the ranking they will also see an increase in a high sense of self-worth which is invaluable. The integrity of the uniform needs to be considered regardless of the fact if it is white or black belt. The dobok is awarded from competitions and should always be worn with a high level of pride and honor.
